My plans for Thanksgiving

I know that all of the Americans out there are getting ready for their first big holiday feast – Thanksgiving Day.  Typically this is the first of many huge meals where we will gorge until we are full and then have a few more bites of something because this or that is our favorite dish.  Well to everyone out there I bid you good tidings.
I will not be joining the traditional gluttony of the season.  I am attending a Thanksgiving potluck and I responsible for the cornbread (plain and jalapeƱo cheese) and a couple of bottles of wine.  My plan is simple – one dinner plate for the main meal and a small plate of dessert.  No seconds for me.  I will only take what I actually want to eat and I will be taking only a single serving of each item.  I am also planning on drinking all of my water for the day before we head out to the meal.
I know that there are low calorie options out there for these foods, but truthfully that would just allow me to eat more food.  So why not just eat the one plate filled with all of the things that I want and enjoy that instead of stuffing myself because I can?  I don’t want to be uncomfortable and I want to actually enjoy myself.  I don’t think that I ever enjoyed myself when I was shoveling food into my mouth in years past.  I am going to take it slowly this year, drink more water (and some wine), and enjoy the camaraderie of everyone.
So I hope that everyone out there has a great time tomorrow and that you treat yourselves well.  I hope to entice some folks out for a walk as well after the meal so hopefully you will all join me as well.
Be well,
