No excuses – I ate 4343calories yesterday because I wanted to. I honestly had no idea I had eaten that much until I plugged in my food. Yikes! I was taken out for a work lunch and the results really speak for themselves. I got no exercise in yesterday. I did rearrange my china cabinet and I moved around my books between four rooms, but I am not counting that as exercise as I was not doing those activities with the intention of it being my exercise for the day. (ramble much? Yeesh)
Today I am doing pretty well. I was asked to breakfast by a co-worker so I went down and had 2 eggs, bacon, a bite of toast, and some coffee and a grapefruit soda (if you’re in HK look for it – it’s nice). For lunch I had a cup of rice, steamed vegetables, and 2tbsp of soy sauce with a diet coke. I was informed that I was eating too little by someone at lunch. I let them know what I had had for breakfast and they still said that I was eating too little. I mentioned that I had dinner plans with my husband so I needed to save room/calories. But in my head I was just thinking – what business is it of theirs? Do I need approval from all and sundry for my eating habits? Answer – no, I don’t need anyone’s approval for my eating habits. Yes, they have pretty screwed up for a while, but I am becoming more cognizant of what I am eating thanks to tracking my food so I am definitely starting to get it together. (By the way, I bought my lunch for the equivalent of USD$4.50 which was pretty good in my opinion for HK).
Being more mindful really is the biggest step of all. Tracking my calorie intake and any calories burned is hard work, but by doing it I am aware of my pitfalls and temptations. I just need to find a non-food based reward for me for each time I do well exercise-wise and food-wise (not going over my calorie budget). Temptations beware! I am going to start saying no in a big way.
